“Tiny Beautiful Things” on Hulu tells the story of Clare Pierce’s rough life. She is in therapy with her husband Danny, who kicked her out of the house after she gave their daughter’s college fund to her brother without telling him. Her daughter Rae doesn’t like her, and every time they talk, the teenager shuts the door in Clare’s face. In the meantime, things at work have not been going well either.
Clare gets comfort from the advice she writes for the online magazine column Dear Sugar. At first, she thinks she doesn’t know enough about anything to give advice to anyone. But when she sees a link between other people’s experiences and her own, she can help both the readers and herself through looking back. This also makes changes in her marriage. If you want to know if Clare and Danny’s relationship will still be going strong by the end of the season, here’s what you need to know. SPOILERS AHEAD
Do Clare and Danny Get Divorced at the End of Tiny Beautiful Things?
Clare Pierce’s marriage is already in trouble when we meet her. She was kicked out of her own house, so she sneaks back in like a thief. She can’t work because she has to sleep, which makes her situation worse. She and her husband also go to therapy together, which makes her feel worse. She feels like she’s getting the short end of the stick in this situation, and she even thinks Danny might be having an affair with the therapist.
When the couple’s therapist tells them to sleep together, things get better. They have a nice night together and talk about things they haven’t talked about in a long time. At the end of the night, they have sexual relations, which brings back the romance in their relationship. When they call a cab, the wrench comes with it. The cab driver is a man Clare almost slept with when she didn’t live at her house.
Danny notices that she and the driver are being awkward with each other. When he asks her about it, she changes the subject because she doesn’t want the mistake to make things worse just as they are starting to get better. Clare goes to a writer’s retreat that weekend. Before she goes back home, she answers a reader’s letter, telling them to get out of their relationship because they don’t want to stay in it anymore. She talks about how she stayed in her first marriage even though she wanted to leave as soon as she got married.
Clare says in her article that a person should be able to leave their spouse just because they want to. It’s good advice, and her husband also follows it. He had been reading Dear Sugar, but she didn’t know it. When she gets back from the retreat, he sits her down and tells her that he wants to end their relationship by using the words she said during the retreat. Clare is shocked to learn that her husband broke up with her because she told him to.
Danny decides to stop trying to keep things going between them because they have been getting worse for a long time. Even though Clare doesn’t tell him, he knows what the weird vibe between her and the cab driver means. Even though their relationship got worse after Clare gave Lucas the money, it had been getting worse for a long time before that. Clare says in the last episode that she and Danny’s marriage is over. Since neither of them is seen trying to fix things, it’s safe to assume that they are getting a divorce.
What Happened in Real Life?
Clare and Danny are on the verge of getting a divorce, but Cheryl and her husband Brian Lindstrom have been together for more than 25 years and are still going strong. After dating for four years, they got married in 1999 and now have two kids together. There may have been good times and bad times in their relationship, but they are still together.
View this post on InstagramThe book “Tiny Beautiful Things” is based in part on the life of Cheryl Strayed, who wrote the real-life advice column “Dear Sugar.” She and Clare have the same background story, but their adult lives are very different. Liz Tigelaar, who made the movie version of Cheryl Strayed’s book “Tiny Beautiful Things,” wanted to show Claire taking a different path than Strayed did. She thought about what Strayed’s life would be like if she hadn’t made the decisions that led her to where she is now. What if her life was more messed up? This led to Clare being made.
Strayed admitted that she and the story’s main character, Clare, have some things in common, but that Clare’s “present-day life is not my life. What’s going on in her marriage is different from what’s going on in mine, and her child is not mine.” She said that the show is “absolutely full of [her] heart,” but that the parts about Clare as an adult are mostly made up.
Strayed said that the marriage of Clare and Danny in the Hulu series was a way for her to show how complicated relationships can be in middle age. “They’re finding that things are changing. In your 20s, everything is happening, but in your 40s and 50s, especially when your last child is about to leave home, you start to wonder, “What’s next for me?” We don’t know if they’ll include each other in the next chapter,” she said. This uncertainty between the couple keeps things interesting for the audience and raises questions about love, loyalty, and what it means to break up with someone you’ve been with for most of your life.
