Sure, you can buy a bag of potpourri from the store — but why bother, when it’s cheap and easy to make from scratch? All you need is a few holiday staples you probably already have on hand, like cranberries and cinnamon sticks. Cleaning and lifestyle influencer LaTreese Atkins (@reeselaa), whipping up a simple stovetop potpourri in minutes. In a medium pot, she combines the follow ingredients:

Atkins covers the pot with a lid and places it over medium heat to allow the mixture to come to a boil. Then, she reduces the heat to medium-low so that it can gently simmer. She notes that this potpourri can bubble away on the stove for three to four hours. Just be sure to pour in more water as the mixture evaporates, and keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t burn.
