The hit-and-run victim was really Maureen Wener, 49, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Tragically, blunt force injuries were found to be the cause of her death.

Maureen was characterised as a fantastic and intelligent woman with a beautiful grin that lighted up the room by Karla Mugher, a friend. A lovely friend and sister, Maureen will be sorely missed.

“I hope they track down the perpetrator. It’s difficult to accept that she’s gone. It truly is, according to Deerfield Public Library child services librarian Noreen Trotsky. “Maureen was considerate. She had a really kind disposition. She was always friendly and curious to know how things were doing. She will be sorely missed.

Sari Montgomery, the president of the D109 School Board, sent her sympathies and praised Maureen for her major accomplishments.

She appreciated Maureen’s long-lasting influence on the neighbourhood and the board and characterised her as an ardent supporter of children.

Although an arrest has not yet been made, authorities are still aggressively looking into the hit-and-run event.
